Just one year ago I was praying for a baby. I have never wanted anything more than to be a mommy.  After our two overwhelmingly heartbreaking miscarriages hope kind of went out the window. Derek and I talked it over. ONE more try. That was all my heart could take. We tried month after month and a new kind of heartbreak set in. Hope shattered each month that passed.

June 27 2008, a year ago, my sweet niece Madelyn Grace (2 almost 3 years old) prayed with my sister Shana.  Every night they would say their prayers before bed. Nightly my sister would add “and please give aunty Sarah a baby, God.” This night Madelyn stopped her in the middle of their prayer and said, “There’s a baby in aunty Sarah’s tummy.” Shana said, “What?” And again Madelyn said matter factly, “There’s a baby in aunty Sarah’s Tummy. She’s going to go to the hosptial and have her like you had Ty.” (Ty is Shana’s baby boy) Shana said when she talked about it she kept referring to the baby as her and she. A few days later on July 4th the two little pink lines showed up. This was the beginning of the little signs God gave me to let me know I would meet this baby. My baby girl. My miracle child, Virginia Blue.

When June 27th came around this year I could not help, but remember the loving signs I was given. I know God gave this baby to Derek and I. I know she will be protected. We will find a treatment or better yet, A CURE!

Even in these blessed days of health lets pray for our sweet Virginia. I give thanks everyday she is well and beg for continued health and a cure for all of us touched by CF.

Bless the Lord, O my soul . . . and forget not all
his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
who healeth all thy diseases.—Psalm 103:2-3

Heavenly Father, you are the great physician.
I turn to you in sickness and ask for Your
healing. Put Your hand upon Virginia and let health and
wholeness flow into her. Help us remember, in this
time of vulnerability, our utter dependence on You.
I commit Virginia and myself to Your loving arms. Amen.

Well, today my sweet little Tobey got his summer do. Virginia went down for her nap and out came the clippers. My mom’s poor dog, Lambert happened to be here so he too got in on the action. I shaved them, bathed them and brushed them. Oh are they cute! Lambert is still not speaking to me. (That’s why he’s not in the pictures, HA!) He’s a little more sensitive, being a poodle and all. Tobey on the other hand is proud and very happy to be cool. Lambert has never been more happy to see mom’s car arrive. He was very ready to end this play-date.

For the past couple of days Virginia has really started to gain coordination in her hands. She reaches out and grabs a and toy or my hair! But she also holds on tight to my shirt and runs her fingers across my chest when I hold her. It is the most loving angelic thing. She’s so gentle and kind already.
